Snails
Steel slag is one of our secondary construction raw materials in our product range. These slags are released as a by-product in the preparation of high-grade steel. It is therefore a secondary building material and can be reused in building products in a fully circular way. Steel slag is of much better quality than e.g. LD slag.
Steel slag is very hard. It has high crushing resistance, so that a stable stone skeleton can be built for heavy traffic load in road construction.
Besides the fact that slag is a secondary construction raw material and has a low MKI value, slag is also a circular construction raw material and thus beneficial for the EMVI score.
range
- it offers good skid resistance, as the PSV value is high, about 56 to 57
- little trailing dust
- density > 3200 kg/m3, thus suitable for heavy concrete
- high density and low specific heat, so can be heated quickly
- stays hot longer, so can be processed longer (higher plasticity). This is beneficial for low-temperature asphalt.
- grain shape is erratic and angular, so high % hollow space
- high sound absorption of an asphalt coating possible
- good scores in various projects, also demonstrated in pilot projects by the Province of Gelderland
- secondary building material, thus low EQI; only transportation costs energy
- circular building material, thus favorable for EMVI score
