Garden gravel is mostly river gravel from the Rhine and Meuse rivers, mined in southern Germany. Then it is called Upper Rhine gravel. In addition, we know ordinary, Rhine and Meuse gravel.

Gravel is a sedimentary rock. It was deposited in the Rhine River via glaciers from the Alps. The grains have been rounded by water and ice over time.

Upper Rhine Gravel is lightly nuanced gray-white-blue in color.
For ornamental application, gravel is also available in white, yellow, gray and brown colors from various sources.
Gravel is available in bulk, loose poured, in big bags and 25 kg bags.

Upper Rhine Gravel and Maas Gravel is available in grades from 2 mm to large round boulders of 400 mm. For garden application, 8/16 mm is mostly used.
