Yalibims

YALI® is a light weight pumice stone sourced from the Greek island of Gyali. This island holds about 100 million m3 of reserves of bims of the highest quality. The volcanic rock is distinguished by its very consistent quality with low specific gravity, its rough structure with high internal friction angle and its unique water and air distribution.

Because of its pozzolanic properties, the material can offer significant added value as a binder in concrete. The latent hydraulic properties of YALI® can act as a cement substitute, as the well-known Tras. It is especially suitable for lightweight concrete.

YALI® can be used specifically for such things as lightweight embankments in road construction projects, lightweight concrete, in substrate, for roof gardens and in horticulture.

range

  • Available in different grain distributions, such as 0-3 mm, 0-8 mm, 2-10 mm, 0-16 mm and 0-31.5 mm
  • Available in very large volumes
  • Loose specific gravity:
    • Specific gravity loose poured dry from about 600 kg/m3
    • Specific gravity loose poured moist from about 760 kg/m3
  • Extremely low volume weight, c.q. low density
  • High consistent, pure quality
  • Environmentally friendly and 100% circular

In addition, Yalibims:

  • Good water permeability
  • Easy to process
  • Fertile soil material for substrate
  • Weight saving in concrete
  • Heat and sound insulating

MARKETS

Lightweight foundation and embankment material: for under buildings, roads, settlement-sensitive areas, level paving, behind sheet piling, against overpasses, in the construction of sewers, culverts and gas and water pipes, under sports fields.

Aggregate: for lightweight concrete and concrete blocks.

In horticulture: As a component in substrates, tree sand, garden soil, roof gardens and green roofs as a nutrient medium and for optimal air and water management.
