Sand

Sand comes in different shapes and sizes. Each type of sand has its own composition, product-specific and constructive properties. Our diverse product range includes concrete sand, crusher sand, sports field sand, filter sand and filler sand.

Our sands are used for a variety of applications ranging from concrete and paving to foundations, sports fields and for infiltration and water passage in geotechnical engineering.

The sand range from Bouwstoffen Unie has the necessary certificates and CE marking.

concrete sand

Concrete sand is mostly a high-quality natural river sand, from the Rhine and Meuse rivers. River sand is optimally suited for use in concrete because it is well washed; adheres well to cement and leads to high concrete strength. River sand is a sedimentary rock. Fine grades of concrete sand such as 0/1 mm and 0/2 mm are called masonry sand or jointing sand.

Crusher Sand

Crusher sand is mainly used in asphalt mixtures because of its angular grain shape. In addition, crusher sand can be used as road sand under paving and for grouting.

Crusher sand is crushed gravel or natural stone from a stone crusher. Sand from a rubble crusher can also be called crusher sand. Crusher sand from gravel from the Rhine and Meuse rivers are the most common because it is well washed.

Sports field sand

Sports field sand is a natural sand and very suitable for grass and artificial turf sports fields and in horse boxes. This well-washed sports field sand offers a very stable sports technical layer in the foundation or top layer. In addition, it offers good draining properties, allowing water to drain quickly.

Filter Sand

Filter sand is a specially graded type of natural sand. It is extremely suitable for infiltration and water passage in geotechnical engineering, such as in drilling for geothermal heat, along drill pipes in geotechnical engineering. This is due to its specific grain composition, which gives filter sand a purifying effect when dirty water flows through. In addition, filter sand has a permanent draining effect for rapid drainage of clean and dirty water. Filter sand is clean and dust-free.
