Gravel

The gravel types supplied by Bouwstoffen Unie are mostly used in concrete products. A number of gravel types are also used in road construction, residential construction, recreation, park and landscape design and geotechnical engineering.

Gravel is a sedimentary rock. It was deposited in the Rhine River via glaciers from the Alps. The grains have been rounded by water and ice over time.

The gravel types that Bouwstoffen Unie supplies come mostly from southern Germany, from the Upper Rhine. We also supply gravel types mined in the river beds of the Rhine and Meuse rivers.

These products from Bouwstoffen Unie are CE marked.

Gravel for concrete

Gravel for concrete is mostly river gravel from the Rhine and Meuse rivers. The round gravel is optimally suitable for use in concrete because it is well washed; it adheres well to cement and leads to high concrete strength. The binding (adhesion) to cement and admixtures is naturally optimal.

Garden Gravel

Garden gravel is very suitable for the construction of paths because garden gravel always remains loose-grained and therefore draining. In addition, garden gravel is clean washed and dust free. It retains its natural color nuances, which is why it is widely used in gardens, around ponds and banks.

Roof Gravel

Roof gravel is optimally suited as ballast on flat roofs. Roof gravel is round, clean washed and dust free. Its special composition makes it UV-resistant and permanently draining for rapid drainage of rainwater. In addition, this round gravel is easy to walk on, without leakage damage to roof bitumen.

Drainage gravel/ Filter gravel

Drainage and filter gravel is ideally suited for infiltration and water passage in geotechnical engineering, such as in drilling for geothermal heat and along drill pipes in geotechnical engineering. This gravel is round, clean and dust-free. Drainage and filter gravel is permanently draining for rapid drainage of clean and dirty water.

spligri

Spligri is a mixture of round and crushed Upper Rhine gravel for concrete. Spligri is optimally suited for use in concrete because it is well washed. It adheres well to cement and leads to high concrete strength. Its binding (adhesion) to cement and admixtures is naturally optimal.
