Secondary building materials

Secondary building materials have become indispensable as construction raw materials. Our diverse product range includes concrete granulate, pulverized coal fly ash, biocoal fly ash, E-Boil Ash, slag and foam glass.

Our secondary construction raw materials are used for various applications ranging from concrete and paving to foundations, sports fields and for infiltration and water penetration in geotechnical engineering. The secondary building materials range from Bouwstoffen Unie carries the necessary certificates and CE marking.

concreteGranulate

Concrete granulate comes from recycling companies that crush and screen concrete rubble. From selected clean concrete rubble, through various processes, granulate is produced. This granulate is again suitable for use in concrete and as a foundation material in road construction. Concrete granulate can be supplied in washed and unwashed quality.

Powdered coal fly ash

Powdered coal fly ash is released during the production of electricity from coal-fired power plants. This powdery material, light to dark gray in color, is spherical and glassy. Due to its specific chemical composition, pulverized coal fly ash has pozzolanic properties.

Because of the positive properties of pulverized coal fly ash, it has long been used as a raw material for concrete and cement.

Biocarbon fly ash

Biocoal Fly Ash® is a relatively new type of fly ash released during biomass combustion in a power plant. For sustainability reasons, people today are looking for an alternative to coal, for the production of power from a power plant. For this, biomass is the alternative. The use of biomass creates a fly ash that we market as Biocarbon Fly Ash®.

Biocarbon fly ash® has specific properties that make it widely applicable.

e Bottom ash

E Bottom ash is the residual product after burning pulverized coal with or without biomass in a power plant. It is coarse porous granules, erratic in shape, sharp-edged and angular; it is inert and contains no harmful components. E-Boil Ash can therefore be freely applied as a non-shaped building material and can be used in concrete, road construction, sports field construction and horticulture, among others.

Steel slag

Snails

Steel slag is one of our secondary construction raw materials in our range. These slags are released as a by-product in the preparation of high-quality steel. This construction raw material can be reused in construction products in a fully circular way. It is of much better quality than LD slag, for example.

foam glass

Foam glass, or glass foam, are coarse granules created during the melting and expansion of clean recycled glass. This glass granulate is ground into a fine powder and foamed with air. This causes it to expand into a porous cake (slag). The end result is coarse porous granules, which can be broken and sorted. These lightweight granules are used in concrete; in road construction as a lightweight sand substitute for embankments in weak soils; and for thermal insulation and soundproofing.
